The I Am College Material Project

At the heart of The Scholarship Academy’s mission and vision is a sincere desire to prove to “average” students that college is a realistic possibility. The `I Am College Material Project`is designed to break through the stereotypical barriers that define what `college material` looks like by focusing on ` average` students (G.P.A — 2.0- 3.3) in grades 9-12 who would not normally interact with their guidance counselors. Ultimately our goal is to reduce the amount of debt students incur when pursuing post-secondary education, enabling them to transition into a financially secure adulthood.

We believe that ALL students are “college material”, and with the right tools, we can empower students to take ownership of the financial aid process and minimize their student debt. To this aim, throughout the year we host a series of Scholarship Workshops, Scholarship Lunches, Boot Camps, and our annual Scholarship Fair to share valuable scholarship planning resources to help low-income/first-generations students create 4-year college funding strategies.
