About the College Bound FAFSA Submission Initiative

The College Bound FAFSA Submission Initiative is a partnership between United Way, the Learn4Life Network, and The Scholarship Academy. Through one day virtual and in-person FAFSA completion events, virtual office hours, FAFSA completion training for school-based and non-school-based volunteers, and access to scholarship resources, this project aims to improve post-secondary enrollment, persistence, and completion for graduating seniors at schools throughout metro Atlanta for SY 2021-22. The counties we will serve include Fulton, Clayton, Dekalb, and Gwinnett.

Clayton County – Mount Zion High School, Forest Park High School, Charles Drew High School

Dekalb County – Clarkston High School, Southwest Dekalb High School, Lakeside High School

Fulton County – Tri-Cities High School, Banneker High School, and Creekside High School

Gwinnett County – Shiloh High School

Don’t See Your School or Program Listed? You can STILL participate in the College Bound FAFSA Initiative if you’re in one of our target counties.

Benefits of School/Organization Participation

This College Bound FAFSA Submission Initiative provides additional resources and support to your school community to boost FAFSA completion. Specifically:

 

  • College Bound will help schools create an action plan to achieve their FAFSA completion goal
  • College Bound will host “Train the Trainer” sessions in FAFSA completion for volunteers, school staff, and community partners
  • College Bound will deliver two in-person and two virtual FAFSA completion events (one each per semester)
  • College Bound will provide one-on one assistance with FAFSA via virtual office hours
  • College Bound will provide access to a Virtual Scholarship Center Database (For College Bound Schools Only)
  • College Bound will provide schools with marketing materials to recruit students and incentivize FAFSA completion

Expectations for School/Organization Participation

  • Schools/Orgs will select staff to serve on the CollegeBound FAFSA Champion Committee
  • Schools/Orgs will select staff to participate in a “Train the Trainer” session 
  • Schools/Orgs will set a FAFSA completion goal 
  • Schools/Orgs will participate in biweekly collaborative planning to share updates on event logistics
  • Schools/Orgs will provide space on campus for two in-person FAFSA completion events (one per semester) and access to computers/tablets with WiFi
  • Schools/Orgs will use provided marketing materials to recruit students and incentivize FAFSA completion
  • Schools/Orgs will use established communication pipelines (i.e., Remind, GroupMe, email, etc.) to help CollegeBound promote resources to students/families
